Black History Month – Art Exhibition

February 3, 2023 @ 5:00 am - 7:00 pm

Black History Month
Photo and Art Exhibit
Join us on February 03, 2023
In 2020 our founder, Zainab Funnah, had an idea to bring focus on the Black community in the Nebraska area with positive visual art. During a time when many members of her community were experiencing reactions to nationwide crises surrounding the treatment of Black peoples, she wanted to bring attention to bring together her community in Nebraska.  Zainab understood the power of visual representation and organized the “BlackisBeautiful Photoshoot” to encourage and uplift Black beauty for young women in the summer of 2020.

Understanding that more work was to be done, she transformed her powerful photography project into the makings of a mission! “BlackisBeautifulNE” non-profit was created in 2021 to show positive representation of Black beauty, culture and to give back to her community through the creation of annual scholarships.

In 2023 we want to celebrate Black History Month in a way that’s not only meaningful to us, but will be for the Lincoln Community as well by hosing a Black History Month First Friday event celebrating Black artists from the Nebraska Community.

No Entry Fee required.

Art will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds being donated to BIBNE.

Raffle for prizes/gift cards from Black Owned Businesses will be held.
All proceeds from raffle or general donations at the door will be used to fund annual scholarships and additional community projects.
